Birth Doula Services

As a birth doula I offer continuous support throughout your pregnancy and birth, which can start as early as the 1st trimester.   This support includes phone calls, emails and a 2-3 hour prenatal visit in your home so I can learn what your hopes and fears are surrounding your birth.

I also offer pregnancy and postpartum resources, tools to begin using to help prepare your mind and body for birth, positions to try for labor, and questions to ask your provider. My goal is to help you and your partner make your own best decisions.

Cost$ 1200

“Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers – strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”  ~ Barbara Katz Rothman

I will be by your side through this experience

At the point in labor when you feel you would like me to be present, I will join you at your home or the hospital/birthing center, whichever seems more appropriate.   What I bring to your birth are my hands for massage and acupressure, ideas I may suggest for positions to try, my labor bag of tricks which includes massage tools, lotions, my birth ball, a rebeozo (a Mexican shawl used to help with certain labor positions), a heating pad, aromatherapy and essential oils.

Along with these physical tools I bring a calming, grounded presence, a belief that women are strong, a knowledge of who you are and what your hopes are for your birth, ideas for your partner, and a willingness to be by your side throughout the challenging and empowering experience of birth.   I will stay with you throughout your labor and birth, no matter how short/long that is (there is a wide range in labor – some women labor for a few/several hours and for some the process takes days – any amount of time is normal!). I also stay with you for a few hours after birth to help initiate breastfeeding and to process the experience.

I will continue to support you and your baby, in the first weeks of life

A week or two after your baby is born I will visit you at your home to listen to your experience of labor and birth, observe how you’re doing in the first few weeks of parenthood and offer resources that I think would be helpful.  I also like to bring a home cooked meal. Please let me know if you have any food allergies or if there are foods you dislike or are craving!
